ollie
The ollie is a skateboarding trick where the rider and board leap into the air without using his or her hands to get the board off the ground. The skateboarding trick the ollie was created by skateboarder Alan Gelfand in 1976. Alan created this trick while one day while skateboarding in pool learned to perform a no-handed jump using a gentle raising of the front of of the board and then making a scooping motion to keep the board with the riders feet. The ollie is a fundamental trick in street skating, also used to jump over obstacles. Other tricks such as the kickflip depend on the ollie to get the move started.
Kickflip
The kickflip is a skateboarding move where the rider ollies. Then kicks their foot out and flip the skateboard 360 degrees along the boards axis with the riders foot, this allows the rider to spin the board all the way around and then land on it. The skate trick the kickflip was invented by Rodney Mullen in the early 1980's. A different variation of the kickflip is called the double kickflip, in the double kickflip the rider does the exact same thing to start a kickflip but instead of the board fliping once it flips it flips multiple times before landing. The kickflip is also a street skateboarding trick.
Butter flip
The butter flip was invented by Keith Butterfield. To do the Butter Flip, you stand in Heelside Railstand, and hop both feet to one side of the board. Both feet are side by side with no gap larger than an inch or two between them. The rider puts pressure onto the end of the board, using the foot that is not on the wheel. It pops the board up and the rider grabs the board with their hand on the same side of your body as the foot that was on the wheel. This trick is the method used to go from Heelside Railstand to a Pogo or 50/50. You can catch the board with your foot as well rather than your hand making it a Butter Flip to a No Handed 50/50.
