Deck
A modern deck for skateboards vary in size from 28 inches to 33 inches long and 7 inches to 12 inches wide. The wider the deck the greater the stability you have while riding on the board. Grip tape is a sand paper like tape that is applied to the top of the of the skateboard, grip tape gives the rider's feet grip on the deck. On the underside of the skateboards there is usually a design that is printed on by the manufacturer of the board, something the bottoms of skateboards are blank.
Wheels
The wheels of a skateboard come in many different sizes, colors, and shape to suit different types of skating. Larger wheels such as 58-85 mm roll faster, and move more easily over cracks in pavement. Smaller wheels such as 48-54 mm keep the board closer to the ground, requires less force to accelerate and produce a lower center of gravity, but also make for a slower speed than larger wheels. Wheels also come in a variety of hardness. The hardness of the wheels can depend on the kinds of trick you can do on a skateboard. Modern day skateboarders like to use smaller and less dense wheels because it makes it easier to do tricks with.
